Community’s “If I Could” Program Makes Dreams Come True for Deserving Residents

When beloved Addington Place of Mount Pleasant resident Judy F., 84, was going through a tough time recently, the team wanted to do something to brighten her day in the way she brightens everyone’s who comes into her path.
“Talk about someone who is just getting the full experience of life here at Addington Place. Judy participates in every single activity and has so much fun in everything that goes on here. She is friends with seriously everybody here, including all of our staff. She’s just one of those people who you fall in love with when you meet her,” said David Kroll, Director of Sales.
As the most die-hard Iowa Hawkeyes fan, Team Members were thrilled to make a wish of Judy’s come true and surprised her with tickets to attend a women’s basketball game against Northern Iowa.
When Judy received her surprise, she was overcome with emotion and said, “I love it here, I love the people, and everybody is so great. Thank you so much!”
The very next day, Judy donned her best black and gold Hawkeyes gear from top to bottom and off they went to the game. Joined by Director of Sales David Kroll, Executive Director Joe Jones and Business Office Manager Jen Millard, Judy and the team brought luck to the game, with the Hawkeyes beating Northern Iowa 92-86.
“I’m very proud to be part of the team to make this happen for her. She is so deserving of this,” said Executive Director Joe Jones.
The team had so much fun with this experience that they wanted to keep it going for other residents, and the “If I Could” Program was born. This program is about rediscovering joy, revisiting cherished memories, and fulfilling lifelong dreams for residents.
Residents are told, “Whether it’s something you used to love doing or an experience you’ve always dreamed of, we want to hear from you. Your dreams and ideas inspire us! Our team will review them and explore ways to make as many wishes come true as possible.”
With Judy as the inspiration for this new program, the team is excited to grant many more “If I Could” wishes for its deserving residents. Stay tuned—watch this video to see Judy’s heartfelt surprise and join in on her fun basketball game experience!
